Master of Divinity

Seminarians have diverse life experiences, educational backgrounds, and academic needs. But they have a common goal: to serve the people of God’s Church through the Roman Catholic priesthood. Sacred Heart’s formation program is comprised of both classroom learning and ministry placements, carried out in an environment of prayer, reflection, spiritual direction, and the active peer support of a growth-oriented community life. The program is designed to respect the differences in each person’s life and experience. An individualized program of the four pillars of formation is designed for those candidates who enter the seminary as permanent deacons or have previous seminary course work. The master of divinity degree normally requires four years of theological studies and formation.

Every seminarian receives a program tailored to bridge from their specific background and life experiences to their future ministerial needs.
