Gold Vespers with Fr. James Kurzynski –  Memorial of St. Albert the Great, Nov. 15, 2018

As a seminary community kick-off event for this science grant, Sacred Heart hosted a “Gold Vespers,” drawing on the recent initiatives of the Society of Catholic Scientists to organize  “Gold Masses” to celebrate and pray for Catholic professionals in the sciences. Held on November 15, 2018, the Memorial of St. Albert the Great (patron of scientists), the vespers drew attendees from the faculty, administration, and seminarians. Fr. James Kurzynski, priest of the Diocese of La Crosse, astronomer, and author of God’s Canvas: An Exploration of Faith, Astronomy, and Creation (Peregrino, 2016) presided at vespers and afterwards lectured about the value of astronomy and faith, the Vatican Observatory, and his role in inspiring the observatory’s annual Faith and Astronomy Workshop.
